Custom Optical Design

Our optical engineering team works hand-in-hand with clients to design custom lenses that align with exact application requirements. Optical Fabrication & Precision Molding

LightPath offers both standard and custom lenses, fabricated through traditional grinding/polishing or our proprietary precision glass molding process. Molding provides the most economical, scalable method for producing high-volume aspheres and freeform optics—delivering tight tolerances and repeatable results at a lower cost per part.

We’ve perfected the molding of aspheres, spheres, and complex geometries, supporting a range of diameters and formats while maintaining exceptional surface quality and form accuracy.

 
Freeform Optics

Our experience in high-volume molding extends into freeform optics—complex surfaces without symmetry constraints that enable compact, high-performance systems. These are critical for next-generation applications such as AR/VR headsets, LiDAR systems, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and medical devices. We provide cost-effective, scalable manufacturing of freeform optics to support these cutting-edge technologies.

 
Diamond Turning

For applications requiring complex surface geometries or ultra-precise finishes, LightPath operates over 20 in-house single-point diamond turning (SPDT) machines.

We produce rotationally symmetric spheres, aspheres, and diffractive lenses—including miniature optics as small as 3mm in diameter—with optical-grade surfaces and nanometer-level accuracy.

 
Infrared Glass Manufacturing

LightPath is one of the few companies with in-house capabilities to produce Chalcogenide infrared glass. At our Florida facility, we manufacture our proprietary Black Diamond™ series—including BD2 and BD6—capable of consistent performance in molded or polished form. With production volumes up to 10 metric tons annually and diameters up to 120mm (expandable), we ensure unmatched quality and flexibility.

In 2021, we also secured an exclusive license from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratories for a new class of Chalcogenide glasses, now being integrated into production for advanced IR optical systems.

 
Optical Coatings

We offer a broad range of high-performance optical coatings, including anti-reflective, protective, and spectral filters. Our coatings are designed to meet diverse application needs—from visible to infrared wavelengths—enhancing transmission, reducing stray light, and protecting lenses in harsh environments.
